Welsh Budget news

Good to hear that Mark Drakeford – ITVs Welsh politician of the year – is today presenting the final Welsh Budget and we have already heard about extra money for the Welsh NHS, money to help fund local council services and to tackle homelessness amongst young people over the next two years.

Dawn Bowden said “This extra investment in our frontline public services is to be welcomed as it will help to offset some of the pressures from Tory austerity policies. The more we can spend our money on the front line, on early interventions and directing people to use appropriate health services and support the more money we will all save over time”.

The Welsh Budget is subject to a final vote in the Assembly in January but today sees the details of the Budget presented by the Welsh Government. It follows on from a lot of detailed scrutiny work  in the Assembly and takes account of the UK Government’s recent Budget announcements.
