Childcare – training and job opportunities

One of our major promises during the Assembly elections of 2016 was to offer improved childcare. The scheme focuses on providing eligible working parents with a combined 30 hours of early education and childcare for 3 and 4 year olds, for up to 48 weeks per year. Good progress has been made in rolling out this scheme ahead of schedule.

The Welsh Government have now published a Question and Answer guide to the scheme. See copy here:

Childcare Offer – FAQs – Parents – English – May 2019

In addition a further Welsh Government scheme called Communities for Work Plus (C4W+) is starting which seeks to help people who do not meet the criteria of other schemes.

SHORTAGE OF CHILDMINDERS

Yet as Communities for Work+ and Merthyr Tydfil CBC are stressing there is a shortage of childminders in the area and they are trying to fill this gap. Would a career in childminding suit you?
