Thank you for snow response says AM

Dawn Bowden AM has expressed thanks to the emergency services, council staff and gritting teams, NHS and care workers, public service workers and many volunteers across Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney for their response to the heavy snow over recent days.

Dawn Bowden said “the heavy snow has certainly been a difficult test in Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney and with the freezing temperatures the problems are not yet over. But I am clear that there was a great response over the weekend as people battled the snow to keep roads open, and ensure access to the hospitals and other essential services. We can all play our part by checking on neighbours, especially if they are frail or elderly and might appreciate a small chore to get them over this cold period”.

“The weather may make for some picture postcard scenes but we need to follow the advice and minimise our journeys wherever possible”.

“So I want to express thanks to the many people who offered help and support over the weekend and let us keep this strong community spirit going as the weather hopefully improves over the coming days”.
